Are you ‘Going for Gold’ with your dream/ goal? You absolutely can achieve those dreams and goals you have and reach your fullest potential and even more as you consider, quite simply, going for it!
Did you listen to some of the stories from the athletes competing in the Olympics & Paralympics? So many began by just doing something for their fitness rather than for the competitions however all were driven to strive for more.
More fitness.
More time for themselves.
More muscle strength.
More ‘something’.
A routine of exercise that pushed them every day to develop something more for themselves.
And then the next steps became about competitions, raising their game as they found they were winning and also becoming role models. Winning and the medals won, symbolise the best in the competitions. However, being there also showed that the determination to be the best they can be was crucial for development.
The evidence was in ‘showing up’ for the dream that became a goal and then an achievement leading to more.
Going for Gold symbolises a willingness to push the self and be more of whatever is possible. Plus overcoming the limiting mindset, and the disempowering beliefs. Keep your eye on the prize (whatever that symbolises for you!)
Does this resonate with you and your career at all? Because I am here to help you develop a willingness that I know you have inside of you to make an impact in the world and, of course, raise your visibility to gain the next promotion!
Going for Gold: Passion for One Goal & One Target
What is your goal? Are you passionate about it?
One of my favourite Olympians Emma McKeon AM has a truly inspirational story. Having just missed out on the chance to compete in London 2012 but she didn’t give up. Swimming is her passion. Emma continued with her sport and won gold at the 2016, 2020 & 2024 Olympics and many more medals and accolades for her sport.
You can read up on her and, as 2024 Young Australian of the Year, Emma truly embodies inspiration. She is, most definitely, a ‘Going for Gold’ achiever.
In a previous blog post about communication skills (I’ll link it below for you) I explored the concept of communicating your mission. So what about that? Do you have your mission firmly in place? I bet if you’re reading this, it’s about making an impact in the world!
Whilst your mission may be obvious and an outer part of you that you display - your personal goal of attaining the highest promotion you possibly can will, most likely, be more hidden.
How often do you tell yourself that you are completely capable of making an impact? And, perhaps more crucially, how often do you tell others? Read on as I’m here to help you!
It is completely within your abilities to turn a dream into a goal and to be seen as ‘Going for Gold’ with a CEO mindset and making the impact you know you can.
The Mindset of a CEO
I walk my dog every morning in the countryside that surrounds my home. And there is so much more that happens for me when I’m out in the air and walking. By the way, I walk fast but that’s my way.
I think.
It is my time to consider where I am in my career and life. I think about the problems and challenges I’m facing. And then I move instantly into how to overcome the challenge. Who do I know that could help me? Or what have I done before when faced with a similar problem/challenge?
Are you able to walk in a park or garden? Or do you have some other routine exercise that gives you time to think? It’s an amazing time for yourself and getting the oxygen pumping through your veins.
Would you spend a moment to think about what ‘Going for Gold’ looks like for you?
How I can help you be ‘more CEO’
What is your mission?
What is your dream for the world and your career?
Although you might not be aiming for ‘CEO’ right now, what does this mean? It means thinking strategically, thinking for the long term, thinking of opportunities, and solving problems. It's going for gold in your industry.
These exercises are very useful preparation for my series of masterclasses ‘How to Maximise Your Potential To Secure A Salary Increase’. They are free to attend, although you do need to sign up, and they are full of gold for you to truly unlock your dreams and turn them into goals.
Then you will show up with more confidence, and more self-belief, proving that you are a problem solver and impactful contributor. And I'm here to support you and encourage you every step of the way.
Will I see you there?
Genevieve
